Colourthon 2019
The Moonlight Colourthon and Twillight Colourthon took place on Saturday 6th July 2019 at Chalkwell Park, Southend-on-Sea SSO 8NB.
The Moonlight Colourthon is a half marathon (13+ mile course), FUN walk, where entrants wear brightly coloured clothing, and walk against the backdrop of Southend by night. The Twillight Colourthon is a shorter, 10km (6.1 mile), walk where much of the route is the same as the longer Moonlight Colourthon. Both events started at 6pm and were restricted to walkers over 13 years of age.
In addition to the obvious fun of dressing up the event highlights, to the public, the many worthy causes represented by the walkers. This year, PORT was represented by a great team 21 walkers, who together raised £6273.75.
Ladies Afternoon Tea, organised by Grays Town Bowls club
On 7th April Grays Town Bowls club, organised a ladies cream team in aid of PORT. There was also a raffle, bingo and quiz. Special thanks goes to Serena-Jayne Madgewick, Julie Madgewick and Aunty Pat for all your hard work! They raised over £600 for PORT.
COLOURTHON 2018
Could you walk the Colourthon in aid of P.O.R.T on Saturday 7th July 2018?
You have the choice of two events, the main event, the Moonlight Colourthon, or the shorter Twilight Colourthon, which both start at Chalkwell Park at 6pm. It’s for those aged 13 or older.
You are sponsored to walk, with prizes for the highest amount raised, as our Chairperson Sue Stewart won in 2016, and best dressed, which we also won in 2016 – so dress up if you would be prepared to, as well could win a bonus. P.O.R.T will provide embroidered sashes and tutu skirts.
Moonlight Colourthon
The “main event”, a half marathon (13+ miles) around Southend, Westcliff and Chalkwell.
Twilight Colourthon
The shorter Twilight Colourthon was launched in 2012 for those who feel the Moonlight is a step too far. It is a walk through Southend, Westcliff and Chalkwell, over a shorter course than the Moonlight Colourthon, at 10k (6.1 miles).
